Definitive Obturator
After healing is complete and it is decided that the wound will not change significantly anymore, a second obturator will be made. This is known as the " Definitive Obturator." At this stage in treatment it is important that all the supporting teeth be in good condition. The obturator attaches to the teeth (if teeth are present). If a tooth has a problem after the obturator is made, then the obturator might be compromised. It is very important to do all the necessary dental treatment to the remaining teeth, prior to making the "Definitive Obturator." The treatment to the teeth might include: cleaning, fillings, root canals, crowns, bridges and even implants.
